Felipe PEREDA

Felipe Pereda gained his Ph.D from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid in 1994. He has taught at the Johns Hopkins University (Baltimore) between 2010 and 2014 and previously, for more than a decade, at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid.

Born in Madrid, his research has focused on Spanish art and visual culture in the Early Modern period, 15th-18th centuries, paying particular attention to the process of the religious confessionalization of imagery.

His most recent books are Las imágenes de la Discordia. Política y poética de la imagen Sagrada en la España del 400’ (2007), and Crimen e Ilusión. El arte de la verdad en el Siglo de Oro (2017) [Both available in English translations, Harvey Miller, 2018].
