Concepción Company Company completed her undergraduate, masters and doctoral studies at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM).

Her research interests are philology, historical syntax, historical grammar, the theory of linguistic change and the history of the Spanish language.

She is the author of eight books and the editor of twenty-nine, in addition to having written more than one hundred articles and chapters in journals and books on international arbitration.

Her work has achieved wide recognition: she is a member at the highest level, level III, of the Sistema Nacional de Investigadores; full member of the Academia Mexicana de la Lengua; member of El Colegio Nacional; member of the Governing Board of El Colegio de México.

She has been awarded the National University Award for Young Scholars; the Wigberto Jiménez Morena National Linguistics Award; the National University Award for Research in the Humanities. She is the Vice-president of the Asociación Internacional de Historia de la Lengua Española and in 2016 she was named Emeritus Researcher of the UNAM (emeritus is the highest honour granted to an active academic at the UNAM).
